Course Scope: Learn how the fluctuations of Vata, Pitta and Kapha Doshas help or hinder the healing process based on your own constitution of them, both mentally and physiologically. Course Description: Reiki and Mindful meditation are practices that form communication with our highest energies and as a skill used to relax and quiet the mind body and soul. A consistent Reiki and mindful meditation practice can be useful to gain insight into our thoughts and how we respond to the world around us. With these trainings, trainees will learn to give a full lengthen reiki session and create and lead mindful meditation groups in institutions and informal community settings. By experiencing, learning then giving and teaching these techniques, trainees will have the confidence and skill to practice and administer Reiki and Mindful Mediation. Learning Outcomes and Objectives: Students will demonstrate understanding of Reiki/Mindful Meditation and the relationship to Self. Students will experience Reiki/Mindful Meditation by guided exercises, inquiry and conversation, Students will experience Reiki/ Mindful Meditation exercises Students will demonstrate how use Reiki/Mindful Meditation exercises Students will demonstrate the indications and contraindications for the types of Reiki/Meditation techniques. Receive Reiki 2 attunement. Learn Reiki Symbols. Talk about Reiki and Mindful Meditation exercises. Discuss the difference of Reiki 1 and 2 levels. Discuss Indications and contraindications. Room set-up. Experience guided Reiki/Mindful Meditation Exercises. Reiki Homework: Read Chapters 4,5 & 6. Write up a brief description of each chapter. All work must be handed in at next class. MeditationHomework: Add a daily 5 min. Personal mediation Practice in addition to Self-Reiki. Keep a login. Read and practice the first 5 lesson plans in manual for 1 hour each. Write up a brief description of each chapter. All work must be handed in at next class. Part 3 Review homework. Discuss Reiki healing techniques, hand on work with classmates. Reiki Homework: Read Chapters 9 & 10. Give a Reiki session (10 min.) to at least 5 people. Keep a log in. Write up a brief description of each chapter and each Reiki session given. Meditation Homework: Read and practice the last 5 lesson plans in manual for 1 hour each. Keep a login. Write up a brief description of each Mindful Meditation lesson plan experience. Write a 3 min meditation. All work must be handed in at next class. Part 4 Review homework. Introduction to the charkas. Discuss how to form a small Mindful Meditation Group. Each Student will lead a 3-minute Mindful Meditation with the class. Reiki Homework: Read Chapters 11 & 12, write a brief description of each chapter. Review Charkas handouts. MeditationHomework: Write up 5-30 min Mindful Meditation lesson plans and teach a small Mindful Meditation Group at least 5 times. Write up a brief description of the teaching experience. Lesson plans and write up must be handed in at next class. Part 5 Review homework. Discuss the business of having a reiki practice and teaching mediation classes. Practice Reiki on classmates. Reiki Homework: set up appointment to give teacher a full Reiki session. Part 6 Check that all homework was summited. Communicate their knowledge of Reiki/Mindful Meditation by a taking a quiz. Review quiz and address any questions or concerns. V. Student Assessment Method Students will be evaluated throughout the course using teacher observation, oral responses and written descriptions and a quiz. VI. Teaching Strategies Interactive power points, demonstration, participation in hands on work, class participation and group interaction.
